Mum Delighted After Welcoming Baby Girl Who Shares Her Rare And Beautiful Birthmark
For most of her life, Nigerian actress Elma Godwin believed she was the only person in her family with a rare and distinctive birthmark that made her stand out from everyone around her.
Now, 34 years after being born with the unique trait herself, she has welcomed a baby daughter who carries the exact same striking feature.
The joyful mother announced the arrival of her second daughter, Aninoritse Bridget-Chimereya Ludart, on Instagram after giving birth on September 13, 2024. Alongside the announcement, she shared a touching photo showing herself and her newborn daughter side by side, both displaying an identical white streak at the front of their hair.
The resemblance was so remarkable that Elma couldn’t contain her excitement.
“I gave birth to my twin!!” she wrote in the heartfelt post.
The unusual white patch of hair is caused by piebaldism, a rare genetic condition that results in areas of skin and hair lacking pigmentation. One of the most recognizable signs of the condition is a white forelock, a streak of white hair that often appears near the front of the scalp.
Although Elma proudly embraces the trait today, her journey toward self-confidence was not always easy.
In a later Instagram post, she reflected on the challenges she faced growing up with such a visible difference.
“On this day 34 years ago I was born with a rare birthmark which proved very challenging for me,” she wrote. “I especially struggled during my teenage years where I received a lot of unwanted attention and I always felt different from everyone else.”
Like many young people who feel different from their peers, Elma found it difficult at times to accept what made her unique. The constant attention and curiosity from others often left her feeling isolated.
Fortunately, she had a strong support system at home.
According to Elma, her parents played a vital role in helping her develop confidence and self-acceptance.

“Fortunately for me, my parents were my rock and they taught me to be proud of my unique difference,” she explained. “They made me understand I was special, whilst also being no different than anybody else and they encouraged me to show off my white forelock with pride.”
Those lessons stayed with her as she grew older.
Over time, what once felt like a burden became an important part of her identity. Instead of hiding her birthmark, she learned to celebrate it.
“As I got older I learned to rock my birthmark with attitude and have embraced my identity with all the blessings that have come with it,” she wrote.
The birth of baby Ani made the moment even more meaningful for the family.
Elma’s older daughter, Ari Ludart, was born without the distinctive trait, meaning there was no guarantee another child would inherit it. When Ani arrived carrying the same white forelock as her mother, the surprise quickly became an emotional and unforgettable experience.
For years, Elma had believed she was alone in her family when it came to having piebaldism. She never imagined that one day she would look down at her own daughter and see the same feature reflected back at her.

Sharing her excitement with followers, she wrote:
“Now our growing family has been blessed with another special baby girl that was born with the same beautiful birthmark just like her mama. I am no longer ‘the only one’ in my family.”
The moment represented more than a shared physical trait. It symbolized a connection between generations and a continuation of a story that began decades earlier.
Because Elma has lived with piebaldism her entire life, she feels uniquely prepared to help her daughter navigate any challenges she may face in the future.
“With first hand experience it will give me great joy to help my daughter own her gift the same way my parents helped me,” she shared.
She also emphasized that her daughter will grow up surrounded by love, support, and encouragement.
“Whatever attention and experiences may come her way she will be loved by her parents, big sister and protected by God.”
As if the moment were not already special enough, baby Ani was born on Elma’s own birthday, making the occasion even more memorable.
Reflecting on the coincidence, Elma expressed her gratitude.
“I am so grateful to be celebrating another year and another precious child is the best gift I could ask for on my birthday.”
What once made Elma feel different from everyone around her has now become one of the strongest bonds she shares with her daughter.
Their story serves as a powerful reminder that the traits we sometimes struggle to accept can become the very things that connect us, inspire us, and make us proud of who we are.
